Online: Advanced SketchUp
This course covers modelling terrain and maximising the in-built tools for creating visuals. You'll learn how to work with site surveys, create terrain from contours and build organic shapes such as land forms and wiggly cloud hedges. It will also dive into Styles so you can create great visuals straight from SketchUp, and run through how to add extensions, demonstrating some that will be useful for your workflow.
Course Objectives:
Work with site surveys and learn the best practises for building terrain from contours
Use the Drape, Stamp and Smoove tools to manipulate terrain
Learn how to draw on your terrain (and when not to do so)
Look at extensions to streamline your workflow and introduce additional functionality
Work on several examples such as organic shaped hedges and berms
Geolocate your model for realistic shadows
Understanding the Styles palette
Please read our Terms of Service before booking.

Duration
This is a one day course starting at 9.30 GMT and finishing at 16.45 GMT. There will be a morning session (9.30 - 12.45) and afternoon session (13.30 - 16.45), each with a 15 minute break.
Pre-requisites
Please note that this course requires familiarity with SketchUp. We will assume you are confident in creating garden models in SketchUp and that you’re able to use all the drawing, manipulation and array tools confidently, and that you can set up Scenes and have used the Styles before. Please consider our Introduction to SketchUp course if these workflows are unfamiliar to you.
Getting started
It is essential that you have SketchUp installed and running prior to the course. We cannot help you with software installation, if you have any difficulties with this please contact SketchUp directly.
The course will be run via Zoom. You will need a stable, reliable internet connection to view the course, which is run online.
Course structure
This course is divided into a series of demonstrations and class exercises. As tempting as it is to follow the tutor - selecting tools and drawing as they draw - you are more likely to miss details this way (even if you have two screens), as you will be concentrating on your own work and not the tutor. There is a lot to cover in a day and the demonstrations will run quite quickly to leave as much time as possible for class exercises.
We provide a comprehensive course manual and recommend you concentrate on the demonstrations and make any additional notes by hand.
