This course is a general introduction to Vectorworks. It is suitable for those who are new to Vectorworks or is a great refresher for those who have only covered basic functionality as part of another course.

It contains over seven hours of short, concise videos to watch whenever and wherever you want, and as many times as you need to! Ideal for those that cannot commit a full day to an online or in-person training course.

Course objectives:

  • Understand the workspace

  • Navigate the drawing area

  • Draw a variety of shapes

  • Select, move, copy and paste objects

  • Understand the use of snapping

  • Apply graphic attributes

  • Make use of the Hardscape, Landscape Area and Fence tools

  • Understand the use of design layers and classes

  • Create and publish sheet layers

  • Working with viewports and adding annotations

Please note that this course does not specifically cover the 3D capabilities of Vectorworks, other than understanding that Hardscape, Landscape Area and Fence objects operate in both 2D and 3D. We have chosen to cover working in 3D in Vectorworks in our Advanced course.

Pre-requisites

There are no pre-requisites for this course. Although it is written for landscape and garden professionals, it is an introduction to Vectorworks and as such is applicable to other industries, although the exercises are aimed at landscape and garden designers.

Our follow on course Intermediate Vectorworks focusses on tools that are specific to Vectorworks Landmark and is only suitable for landscape and garden professionals.

Getting started

It is essential that you have Vectorworks Landmark installed and running prior to starting the course. We cannot help you with software installation, if you have any difficulties with this please contact Vectorworks UK.

You will need a stable, reliable internet connection to view the course.

Course structure

This course is divided into a series of recorded lessons and exercises. You will be able to log in and watch the videos whenever you want, and however many times you need to.
